Five courses are found in the local area: In North Carolina are Cherokee Hills Golf and Country Club, Chatuge Shores Golf Course, and The Ridges. Hunting: If hunting is your sport, there is ample opportunity to hunt black bear, wild boar, deer, turkey and other small game. The Nantahala and Cherokee National Forests offer thousands of acres of prime hunting territory. |

Horseback Riding: Many properties include pasture land and barns for you to keep your own horses. If just an occasional ride is more your style, local stables offer choices ranging from one hour trail rides to overnight trips into the mountains.

“Off-the-Roading:” Several off-highway vehicle areas provide easy to extremely challenging trails for 4-wheel vehicles ranging from near-stock Jeeps, SUVs to all-terrain four-wheelers. |

“Chasing the Dragon:” Motorcycle enthusiasts will find the 11-mile stretch of U.S. 129 known as “The Dragon” to be one the world’s best motorcycling roads. Featuring 318 curves, it starts in North Carolina and ends in Tennessee.

Hiking and Biking: The tri-state area boasts some of the best hiking and biking paths in the Southeast—including one of the most famous, the Appalachian Trail. Choose from short easy trails to extremely challenging long hikes. Hiking clubs abound, as well as guided hikes.
