Carol is originally from Homestead, Florida and Lee from North Miami Beach. Carol has always loved the mountains, having spent her childhood summers in Burnsville, North Carolina at her grandparents’ home.
After Lee and Carol were married in 1987, every free holiday or vacation day was spent in these beautiful mountains. Eventually, they decided to leave the big city life and in 1997 moved to Murphy. They felt this area offered the perfect combination of both a peaceful, yet a prospering area with excellent opportunities to make a living.
Lee and Carol also felt this was a great place to raise their son, Brandon. Leisure time often finds the family hiking and camping. Their favorite spot is in nearby Cades Cove in Tennessee. They also enjoy gardening—particularly around their home in beautiful Wolf Mountain Estates. Carol reports that she particularly enjoys watching mountain sunsets from their porch. Their only regret has been that they didn’t move here sooner!
Both Lee and Carol were working for Appalachian Land Company in other capacities when they felt the Lord leading them to pursue a career as real estate agents. It was very appealing to them to be able to work as a team with their customers and to share with them this beautiful area they have come to know so well.
Lee and Carol do more than make satisfied customers—they make friends! So many of their clients, sellers and buyers alike, have expressed their thanks to the Barbours for their caring attitude and extra help. As one client put it, "Lee and Carol really go above and beyond—a rare quality, indeed!"
