In her years here at Appalachian Land Company, Barbara Soltys has operated in many facets of the real estate industry. Her official position is as assistant to the Broker, Jo Crowe. However, at times you may see her at the receptionist desk or working on marketing proposals with the design team. Her belief in the value of cross-training brings her to multi task in many of the company’s positions, aiding the customers as well as the agents. She also oversees the financial aspects of the company, organizes schedules and more.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Long Island, New York, Barbara with her husband, Ken, have 3 daughters (on the right are, left to right, Erin, Ashlin and Kristin) and one granddaughter. Barbara and Ken met at their church in Smithtown, NY and were married in 1986. They moved to Hayesville, North Carolina in 2003 and love the friendliness of the people as well as the beautiful mountain views all year round.

Barbara graduated from Long Beach High School in 1982 and has worked as an administrative assistant/ financial administrator most of her adult life. However, Barbara feels her greatest accomplishment is as a wife and mother. Raising three beautiful and well-adjusted daughters into adulthood has been most rewarding. Barbara attended Miami College and graduated with an Associate’s degree in business/finance. In addition to her position at Appalachian Land Company, she also works along side her husband in administrating two of their own businesses. Barbara loves the diversity of her work and thanks God for the opportunity to serve in so many different ways.

When she has time for her hobbies and interests, Barbara enjoys reading, cooking, walking her dogs and exercising.
